- Internet Explorer - right click on the link, select "Save Target As", and then save the file to your download folder.
- Netscape/Mozilla - Holding the shift key while clicking on the link, which should bring up a separate download window, and then save the file.
The above image shows the menu which appears when right clicking a hyperlink. The 'Save Target As' is the selection needed for saving data files like mp3. For downloading pictures you need to select the option highlighted above.
When you download software files you may find they are decompressed so the file is smaller and the download quicker. You will therefore need a decompressing software packages such as Winzip.
The most common compressed files are those with extensions like .ZIP, .SIT and .TAR. Programs like winzip will beable to de-compress all of these file types.
